As this is going to be a big change, I thought it best to make a thread about it.

The next version is going to change the portal almost entirely.  There will be no more "set" modules.  Actually what's there now isn't even called modules, but in the next version there will be modules.  By modules I mean users can create new ones and they can be added to a directory in the Mods directory called "Modules" and they can be installed into the portal just like the default ones have been able to.  I may make a module or two myself, but maybe some programmers will make a few good ones for the masses.  

Any thoughts?

Oh, and the mod center will NOT be used to install these modules.  When you upgrade E-Blah you SHOULD still be able to keep any modules you installed into the portal (unless there are database changes, etc).

This is a brilliant idea Justin, there have been several requests for a full portal front end.

It won't be "full" until people make stuff.    But I'll make the interface, people just need to make the modules ... lol.

This will also allow things from the sides to be put in the center and vica-versa.

I've uploaded the new design of the current "modules" ... I've got to redo the entire admin control panel thing and have got to think about how I want to do that ...

Alright, so the blocks are going to be moveable and updated via AJAX when you move them (so you can drag them around and have great fun with them).  I've got about everything but individual module settings and the ability for more modules.  

Ughh, this has got to be the worst thing I've ever done.  There's a few bugs and I have NO idea how to close them.  The code is perfect, but when the files save it doesn't save sometimes.  It may be the version that's in the final.  Just have to wait and see.

Admins can test it out here (on this forum) ... feel free to move stuff around.  The bugs are located in removing modules ... it works at times, and doesn't at others.

Yeah, I need to do a few things with it.

I just got home from class and ... well ... these teachers love some essays ... research essays.  That's gonna keep me busy for a while I think.  I'll probably still find time to tinker though.  lol

Great news!  I figured out the bug.  When you clicked the things, it would go and save the changes, and then you'd remove too.  It'd remove it, then it'd readd it by rearranging it.  I made it so now you have to move the box somewhere else before it'll save.  Hence, it works.  

Hence, this means release date is ever more closer now.
