Earlier you said your forum was located at /cgi-bin/forum
Now you are saying it is located at /public_html/forum

The GD folder needs to go where youreforum is so /somewhere/forum/GD

If it still doesn't work then ask your host if they have Security::Image module installed.

SORRY

Heart interent installed it into /public_html/forum
But i do have a cgi-bin folder so presumed the security patch would be referenced from there...

I have copied the GD folder and the prefs folder into my /public_html/forum folder but still not any differently.

I will contact heart and ask if they have Security::Image module installed.

Thank you for your help with this. we think E-Blah is a great forum, we much preffer this to our previous phpbb..

Regards

Kevin

Yet another user troubled not by E-Blah, but by Heart Internet... And there's still those denying it's their problem?

BTW, if trying to get this working when hosted by Heartinternet...  just create a folder in your /public_html/yourforum folder.
It worked perfectly for me

It would be convenient to mention that one should copy a truetype font into Prefs/font.ttf. The mentioned tarball contains a font in said path, but actually there are distributions out there that contain the GD::SecurityImage module pre-packaged and people might want to install that (Debian/Ubuntu comes to mind) and end up confused why it doesn't work.

Also, is there any chance to enable the captcha for guest account postings instead of (only) registration process? This would be extremely helpful! I guess I'll have to dig the code myself and hope to come up with a patch for this soon ...  Will keep you updated.

I've got an issue I don't see mentioned in this or any thread:

I've managed to install the "captcha" option, but the resulting "human-readable" characters are essentially unreadable: they are very small (all the same size) letters oriented upside-down or on their sides... is that what they are supposed to be?

Justin,

You mentioned that both GD and MD5 have to be "installed" on the server for your captcha implementation to work...

I'm new to such things, so have been browsing the web for assistance, and I think there is more than one way to "install GD and MD5"... so do you mean specifically they should be installed as perl modules? (My host says "GD is installed" and I have verified that with phpinfo but I suspect that is not what you meant...).
