Hi

I have read a few threads that cover chat in the fourm whilst I understand MODS are extras etc do any of them work on 9.6 ?. The one I downloaded failed and a little digging showed that there were some missing files.

General pointers appreciated.

Regards

The chat mod in the 9.5,9.6 mods is the one that you want, in what way did it fail?

Well I was a bit confised by the paths, however in the install it clearly says

"Copy the chat folder to your public_html and chmod chat-template.htm to 666"

In the one I downloaded

Attachment: chatinstall_9348.zip
58 downloads   -   Size: 41.56 KB

There is no chat-template.htm

Sorry about that, it's meant to read chat.htm, that's the file to chmod to 666

Any other problems?

Think Im there now it does work, im a touch confused on how to access it

If I go to Chat/login.htm - it simply says you need to login.

However if I go to cgi-chat/chat.pl it knows Im logged in and gives me the option to enter chat mode and works just fine.

Is there a way of calling chat.pl through the board ?

Really stupid question now, whats the difference between this and the Shoutbox ?

Thanks

If the mod installed correctly then it should have placed a chat login button just below the menubar. You only see it once logged on.

Have you changed the cookie prefix at all?

login.htm is not used to login with, it is a page that is pulled up to say that you need to login to use the chat, it's a way of keeping guests out.

The shoutbox is similar to chat but is only for quick 1 liners.

If you want me to take a look for you just pm your ftp details and I will fix it.
