Good idea. This really confuses my members trying to enter their birthdates. Nobody seems to read or maybe understand the mm/dd/yyyy bit. I had a go a changing it a while back, but I broke it so put it back the way it was.

It's partway there already! Under time settings in Personal Forum Preferences (9.6) to change the individual, and in the Admin Panel under Main Settings for guest users.
It still doesn't change it when it asks for your birthday though, which is where I was having problems.

OK, got the birthdays sorted. Don't know what I did last time I tried, it was simple.

In Blah/Code/ProfileEdit.pl

change

<td width="61%"><input type="text" class="textinput" name="mm" value="$mm" size="2" maxlength="2"> - <input type="text" class="textinput" name="dd" value="$dd" size="2" maxlength="2"> - <input type="text" class="textinput" name="yyyy" value="$yyyy" size="4" maxlength="4"></td>
</tr><tr>

to
<td width="61%"><input type="text" class="textinput" name="dd" value="$dd" size="2" maxlength="2"> - <input type="text" class="textinput" name="mm" value="$mm" size="2" maxlength="2"> - <input type="text" class="textinput" name="yyyy" value="$yyyy" size="4" maxlength="4"></td>
</tr><tr>

In Blah/Languages/English/MemberPanel.lng

change
$profiletxt[39] = 'Format: <b>MM-DD-YYYY</b>';

to
$profiletxt[39] = 'Format: <b>DD-MM-YYYY</b>';

I actually made a mod for this but on testing realised that it mucks up the entry for members that have already registered.

I'm not fussed about what it outputs, its just so its easier for the user to put in their correct D.O.B, cos they dont seem capable of actually reading stuff before they enter it LOL...

I'll not change anything if its gonna screw anything up, its just a small annoyance on occasion, when i wish someone happy birthday, and it aint for months LOL........

My little tweak only changes the display, not the underlying data. It does confuse users who already have their birthdate entered incorrectly because it's now obviously wrong in UK format. Here's the change I posted before, now as a mod file.
