Hi,
Just something I am in the process of doing but having a bit of a job at the moment. Is it possible to have E-Blah integrated into a cms like phpnuke, mambo or the one I would like to use Xoops.

These systems are getting more and more popular, they mostly integrate other forums instead, it's a shame they don't use E-Blah, they are missing out on a nice format.

Given the fact that the users are stored in a MySQL database, I don't think the two will work right out of the box together.

Of course I am sure there is a way to Mod one or the other to make it so they function together.  This would not be an easy process howerver because you would have to have extensive knowledge of how both E-Blah and XooPs handle users.

You might be better off looking at Guppy.

GuppY, the easy, free and databaseless web portal,
will allow you to generate very easily a complete and interactive web site.

I believe Nat has experience with this software.

Thanks for that martin, I will take a look, if Nat takes a look at this, I just wonder if he has any advise on integration of E-Blah and Guppy. I am sure there is a future in this as more and more are going towards this kind of web site management.

All those I looked at are more or less integrated by the same three types of forum, I won't name them, there is one that is just working on integration now with the cms format and this will make four, as I said in the previous post, I am sure many would choose E-Blah as opposed to the others if they had an option.

Anyway, thanks for the advise, I will have a look

I am on the Guppy team, but at the moment I have some personal issues going on, so not on the net much. Martin, I can relay messages to the Guppy developers, just PM me with any info you need, and I will see what I can do.
I do use eblah as part of 2 of my Guppy sites useing a Guppy plugin, have a look at
http://www.traffordlibdems.org.uk/site/
and my own personal site
http://www.motionandheart.co.uk/enter/

Use the forum links, and you will see how it works.

Hey Nat

I installed it this morning, very easy install. I have done it slightly different, I kept the inbuilt forum and changed it to a Blog.

Do you get GuppY to ling to E-Blah at all?

Never tried to get Guppy to use the same members data base as eblah. You can also use a i-frame with Guppy if needed, so that the eblah forum shows as part of the Guppy site.

I installed Guppy with no problem so that's a great thing, ask Martin about my ability and you will realise it has to be easy if I can do it.

I had a look at the sites Nat, thanks, they are kind of what I am looking for but I am not the worlds greatest with code and have very little idea of PHP.

The integration part looks easy to achieve, well, sort of as I don't know what an i-frame pluggin is but the simple way would be like a url link, the bit thats missing is the ability to pull say five recent posts from the E-Blah forum onto the guppy like the forum that is used now and how to make the E-Blah forum theme fit into the homepage of guppy so the main menu and other items are still on view when the forum is being viewed.

I like the look of it though and it seems easy enough to play with, Ia m a little unsure of the use of cookies when it comes to members that use various browsers but reckon I will figure that out.

The use of the E-Blah database I will leave to those who know more than me, I still have not figured how to make my owntheme yet!

Thanks for the responce, great to know there is support like this, even when it's not completly E-Blah related. It was just an idea and I know that there are many forum software developers that are working on intgrating there format into cms systems. It would be a shame for a great format like E-Blah to be missing out on this I reckon.

I'm looking at another also, it's called YawPS and is cgi based. It uses flatfile database and the username.dat has the same structure as eblah's

http://www.pchelp4free.myby.co.uk/yawps/index.cgi

There is little on themes but I think I will develope this one so the classes etc are the same as eblah so the themes should also work with it.
