Thought it wasn't working, and had double-checked everything, then as I closed it down I realised that Firefox wanted to download something, which is unusal.

Looked at the request and it seems to be looking for some Quicktime stuff so it can play the wav file.

Don't know if this is fixable by fiddleing with the FF config, simply because it's not somewhere I've ever had to go, so will have to look later.

Just adding this in case it affect anyone else.

IE works fine

i use firefox too and found that no sound was played,
wen i installed the pmsound alert mod there was no path for 'PM Sound(url)' displayed in 'Directories and Web Addresses'

therfore could not edit /blahdocs/mailwaiting.wav to the path i wanted,maybe themod cannot locate the file as this was not here.

You should be using the 9.6 version
