I attempted to install this mod:
http://www.eblah.com/forum/m-1127100790/
Which allows you to add custom user information.  After installation I was no longer able to access my forums.  Very frustrating.  I had to back up EVERYTHING in ftp and reinstall E-Blah.  Now my question is, when i go into my admin center there is a field for additional information but it won't let me add new fields.  Also in my user's member center is shows up but you can't type anything in.  What gives?  It's like half installed.  I'm running platinum 9.2.  I really hope to get this mod working.  Here is a link to my forums:

Hmm, who ever created this I want to give a tip -- make sure you make a SECOND {user}.dat file (like {user}.ext; for example).  DO NOT use the .DAT file as it's for the "core" and I/E-Blah should be the only thing to ever modify it.  Also, it'll help in calling extra file.  You could add the extra data to the settings array, but make sure you add it to like $settings[900], for example.

As for why this mod wouldn't work, it's probably because it wasn't made for P9.0+.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

Hmm, that's my mod, if someone could merge these posts with the already existent support thread, that'd be nice.

Now, the mod already writes the data into a file called "{user}.fld", so it doesn't touch the actual user file.

And Justin is right there, the mod hasn't been updated for 9.2. In fact, it doesn't even install, except if you click on "install anyway". That's what you probably did and what made it install the mod halfly which in the end broke your board. I'm gonna go through all my mods this afternoon and see if they work on 9.2 and if not, make an updated version.

You'll recieve an updated version. Try that one out and if it breaks your board again, send me a copy of your broken board, so I can check out what's wrong with it.

Alright, made an updated version for Platinum 9.2.

The first file is for people using only the english language pack and the second one for people using the english and the german language pack.

And could someone please merge the two support threads and add those files into the main thread in the other board?

capitaljeeps, try this new version out and post how it works. I recommend doing a backup before you try, just in case it breaks again.

Oh, and except for the "Board and Category Colors" mod, none of the other ones (merge double posts, group backgrounds) did need an update for P9.2, you can continue using the old versions.

It says the mod may not install succesfully?  I'm alittle bit hesitant to install given what happened last time I installed after getting that same message.

Sure, you should never install if it gives you that message.

To solve this problem, zip and email me the "Code" and the "Language" folders of your forum. Additionally, save the page where it gives you the message that it may not install successfully (the one that appears right after clicking "Install") and include it in the zip.

I'm gonna see what has gone wrong.

If you want to try by yourself, you can try doing a fresh install, and see if it works. Also, if you have any other mods installed, they may interfere and be the problem. So you can try uninstalling those aswell.

If everything else fails, send me the zip, I will probably be able to sort it out for you.

I went to install this latest version for 9.5 to my forums and it did the same thing all over again.  After I install the mod i got a 500 internal error when i tried to access my forums.  I uploaded a new Blah.pl and reset my chmods.  When I went to install this mod i selected "test install".  It told me "the mod will install correctly".  Well it didn't, and i'm annoyed at the headaches this has caused.  The "Field Setup" option is now available in my admin center but it does not work.

Sorry about that, I have noticed that some hosts do not allow scripts to change chmod settings to files in the root of cgi-bin. This mod over writes Blah.pl and the chmod was probably not reset.

A bit late now but the solution was to ftp to your server and reset Blah.pl to 755

I will add a note to the mod.

If you want me to fix then pm your ftp details.

I guess that explains why I now have a file named "Blah.pl.1136957678" in my public_html/cgi-bin/forum directory.  Can I use this file to get this mod to work?  Right now i'm using "Blah.pl" and the mod shows up just doesn't work.
