I posted this in the wrong board earlier , I had a number of windows open and thought i was here - sorry. The background colour of all the boards and pages and add a gif to the top like a title bar , I want to use the following http://www.woolton-hill.com/forum/Blah/template.html as my background and header. I want the light blue you use to be a light purple and the darker blue as a darker purple on my board. I've tried to look in the posts but I dont see it, or its there and I just dont understand it for what it is. Thanks for any help |

Before I help you out by doing it for you... you might want to try editing your main CSS template and play with the colours.
That way you will learn for yourself and be able to do it in the future. If you really do need help then holler once more and I'll fix it for ya! |

Hi Ryan , Thanks for responding , it is appreciated , however I would like to point out that I NEVER asked anyone to do it FOR me , I have struggled for the last couple of days to work it out and in fact to do it for myself , I even read some of the posts you made about modding and downloaded the files you posted , I even read the posts on themes and grabbed the files I saw on them too , I went into my cp panel and I tried theme manager etc ( funny thing is that when I give it a file to edit on the forum web site ,ie :template.html/css it doesn't do anything like show me the contents of the file I want to edit ) .
I may sound like a whiney tit , but I NEVER EVER EVER ask for help until I have tried and failed , or I have Read the manual ( when found) and do not understand it , my life on usenent and irc etc etc taught me to be self supporting and to RTFM first. Anyway I digress.
I came to this programme from a blank canvas point of view, I have no manual in front of me to read , and untill someone makes a doc saying file x does this , file y does this and file z is for this , I don't understand how it works to beable to modify it, it may be ok for others that do know to say " just play with it and see what it does" but I dont think Martin would be very happy to see me screw up the installation he did for me. I haven't as yet seen any tutorial on site here on doing a new theme or which files to mod so I think as my dad would have said , if it aint broke , dont fix it.
I would like a tutorial on site for us non programming types who dont understand css etc explaining which files to change and which files load others in the sequence , ie: file x.html loads up file y.css , file y.css is the one you change to add colours, and file x.html is the one you put a jpg banner in not the .css file.
By now you probably think I am an ingrate or such , as all I seem to have done is complain about lack of instructions etc in both of my posts , but I promise you the perception is wrong. I am NOT insulting or flaming anyone
I dont want anyone to do it FOR me , I want to do it myself , but I am buggered if I am going to screw up a install another person took the time to do for me if I blindly get it wrong.
If you know where there is a post explaining how to do new themes can you please point me at it and I will wander of in happines to try it out. Thanks Xan |

This was a P5 to 9.2 upgrade Can you give a bit more info on what you actually want to achieve. If it is just the look of the board, have you checked out the themes over at http://www.blahdocs.com |

Here we go then. To change the background color you need to edit template.css look for: .mainbg { BACKGROUND-COLOR: # change what ever is after BACKGROUND-COLOR: # to: cfc7ff eg: .mainbg { BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000 becomes: .mainbg { BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cfc7ff Still in template.css, to change the color of the board and categories you need to change .win .win2 and .win3 to colors of your choice. Again it is a matter of changing the #000000 to the color code that you want. To assist you, here are some links to a good color charts. http://www.allprofitallfree.com/color-wheel.htmlhttp://www.december.com/html/spec/color4.htmlhttp://webmonkey.wired.com/webmonkey/reference/color_codes/To add the logo you need to edit template.html look for <body and add this just below it: <center><img src="images/WOOLTON_HILLF.jpg" height=89 width=974 border=0 alt="WOOLTON HILL"></center> Make sure you copy the graphic to the correct image folder /blahdocs/images or /blahdocs/convert/images This should give you enough to play with, have fun and holler if needed, Ryan is an expert with html and css and I will help as much as I can. |
