Dear Justin,

Here's weird one. I'm running Platinum 8.02 and a couple of my users have reported that when they type in 8 they get a winking smiley icon instead of the number.

Any quick fix for this?

Go to Admin/Smilies.

Don't have that choice Justin Only lists Extra Smiley Code.

OK I went there, but I didn't see the number 8 next to an icon. Should I be looking for something imparticular or adding a smile or null choice for the number 8?

It probably isn't there.  If the member is doing  8 ) then that's problem their issue.

Hi Pat,

That piece of code has always been a bugbear with me too...

"Circa (1868)"  usually now has a smilie.... in place.. :-(

Try this..

Go to:

post.pl

Find:

<td><img src="$simages/cool.gif" border="0" alt="$var{'55'}" onClick="use(' 8)');" onMouseOver="$ghand"></td>

Replace with:

<td><img src="$simages/cool.gif" border="0" alt="$var{'55'}" onClick="use(' :cool:');" onMouseOver="$ghand"></td>

Go to:

routines.pl

Find:

while($message =~ s~\Q8)\E~<img src="$simages/cool.gif" border="0">~ && $smilecnt < $gmaxsmils) { ++$smilecnt; }

Replace with:

while($message =~ s~\Q:cool:\E~<img src="$simages/cool.gif" border="0">~ && $smilecnt < $gmaxsmils) { ++$smilecnt; }

Should work... and the 'cool' smilie code will be :cool:
