It picks the username up from the cookie. I don't usually use the admin account on any of my boards, I create my own profile and give myself admin rights. The admin account I use for emergencies only, the theory behind it is that if you don't use the admin account it's less likely to get corrupt.

I could write a little snippit that will replace admin with Nilboglin

Ok, the snippit sounds good, But instead of Nilboglin could you make it "Administrator" also...since now I am considering your suggestion about making a seperate admin account.

What I am going to do is get the username from the dat file instead of the cookie.

Go into the Admin Center - View All Users - Click on admin - click on Name and Contact Information.  Now change your Screen Name to what you want it to be, you then login as the Screen Name.  I have just changed the admin Screen Name to The Boss on my test site so I now login as The Boss if I use that account.

I logged in as admin on your site and posted a test message, it said Nilboglin posted it. Is this not what you want?

Quoted from Warlock
Change what is in red to your path

$themepath = "/home/sites/nukb.co.uk/public_html/discuss/Blah/forum/Prefs";
$datpath = "/home/sites/nukb.co.uk/public_html/discuss/Blah/forum/Members";

Hi Warlock,

I found that a bit confusing too, so I used this with the php 'wild' cards.. and it works fine.

// Change the following 2 lines to reflect your DOCUMENT_ROOT....
$themepath = "../cgi-bin/forum/Prefs";
$datpath = "../cgi-bin/forum/Members";

But now I have to play with the theme, as I have the Smilies all 'squashed up"...

That path method also works but the reason I chose the method I used was beacuse you can just pull the $DOCUMENT_ROOT straight from your Settings.pl which I thought would be easier for the members.

What is probably at fault is my install instructions, I need to re-write them really.

I think you do a "GREAT" job!!

And as paths are not a 'fixed' variable, it sometimes gets difficult to convey to others, exactly what has to be done to make something else work..

I have eight hidden boards from guests, my members wouldn't use it if it could be viewed by everyone. We discuss issues about the companies we work for..
