I am attempting to create some celtic knot style icons for new, old, hot threads etc.
Heres my first try at one...

Looks like a booger.

Any suggestions/help getting these right?

Hello,
Here is what my icon is supposed to resemble.

I am using fireworks to edit the image to size.
I am wondering if I need to use a less detailed/complex graphic.

How big is it supposed to be?

I can take it down to about 20 x 12px, but any samller and it is impossible 2 see what it is!  Also i think the main problem with the other one is that u have had to change the aspect ratio - so it is basically just squashed sideways!

I dunno what is going on with the pink background!  I just copied your image from above and it cane out like that

You'll have to up the size a little, methinks.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

I believe the originals are 17 x 17 approx.
and yes the one you did looks pretty good.

I don't know what is with the pink background tho.

I know the preview images all have strange colors going on but when you open them they are transparent.

I did get this to work by going to photo shop and setting it up there.
Came out nice, maybe i'll soon have a nice celtic themem to add to the blahdocs.

Hello
Pooter...Thats more of where I think I need to go with these knots, more simple. I like that one alot, and I could prolly just change the color for different icons.
I am going to use these icons for threads, new threads, old thread, relocation...etc.

here are two others I did, I decided to try them at 30 x 30 pixels, a bit bigger but easier on the eyes.

Yup I like those, a lot clearer than your first one, gone is the bogey look
Those  two are much easier on the eye and you get to see the detail.
