I fixed it by editing the username.dat file

but I had to take my board back to 8.3 I could not leave it on P9beta1 it would not work then.

Justin, this is a known issue...I thought I told you about this a while back.  The setup script only looks at the admin.dat file and strips the word Administrator out of it.  So for example, if you have a custom admin group for yourself (like you do here on eblah), called Core Programmer, the setup script will not make that person part of the admin group.  The only way to make the setup upgrade script work 100% with the new usergroups, is to make it scan all the user.dat files and add them to the admin list.

I *believe* I fixed that in the later versions of Setup.pl.

"Only administrators are allowed to access this section". I am not even getting a  Admin icon I tried to upgrade to p9 beta 1 on one of my boards and now I can not sign in to the admin Pannel on any of them. I run 5 boards with one members dir.

Edit AdminList.pl
$iframes = 0; to $iframes = 1

Go to the "Prefs" directory and make sure ./Ranks2.txt is being written, if it is, post your Ranks2.txt file here in

tags.

If the version of E-Blah without the little bugs, gets released, I will pre-install this on my server for my users. Infact i'm gonna disabla all php addon scripts and other msg board in the fantisco package, so no bulltetin boards/message boards can be used

Only E-Blah!

The setup script should set the permissions for you if you haven't already tampered with them (this *may* not work flawlessly on every system, though).  Edit Settings.pl and put the FULL directory to the templates directory.

If you are logging into your "Administrator" account and notice it isn't working, it may be that you are not logging into the correct case username (like admin.dat, and you are logging in as ADMIN or Admin).  To correct this, logout and log back in using the correct case.  I am going to try to fix this in the final.

I'm not sure that this can be fixed.  Just make sure users use the correct case.  This issue applies mainly to Windows servers.

I have edited the settings.pl file as you suggested. I am trying to set it up as a test board so that I do not have my members complainging that get funny error messages while i am setting it up.  I have therefore put all the files from the Blah directory in a forlder called Blah2 and Blahdocs as Blahdocs2 as suggested in another post on this forum.  The error message i still get is:

"A file permissions error has occurred. Please check the permissions on the script and the directory it is in and try again."  if you need to see for yourself the link to the setup file is http://www.yotta-ye.co.uk/cgi-bin/Blah2/Setup.pl

ok this seems to be a lot of trouble for just a beta version.  I think I will wait until it is finally released and upgrade then.  All the new features sound good though - just doesn't seem to like me!

That has nothing to do with E-Blah.    That has to do with your CHMOD on Setup.pl.  Make it 755.

Upgrade from 8.3 to Fervor went smoothly .

The only snag I ran into was a member that had full Admin privileges (but not Admin group) lost them. Oh yeah, and I had the board in Maintenance mode when I upgraded, couldn't get out of it without going in the Settings.pl.

Just wanted to let ya' know.

Justin, is the directory that is created going to be default or winter?  If it is winter, then you need to change that on blahdocs.  Also, we never decided if you were going to change the Blah directory to forum ...again, right now I have it listed as Blah in the docs.
