This is a repackage of Platinum 9 Beta 1a; the setup in this version has been fixed and should now work well and without flaw.  Report any problems here.

Here's beta 1B.  PLEASE post any problems you have with it here.  This is mainly to make sure everyone has a good upgrade and all.  I can't stress this enough -- BACKUP YOUR FORUM.  The upgrade script should work fine, but I want to make sure.  Everything else should be fine.  There are still a few bugs here and there, but nothing huge (I don't think -- that's why this is a beta ).  Just search for them and post your findings here.  I'll try to clean up any problems you guys have here.  I've got to get in the bed ... school in the morning.    Have fun!

Justin... still I get this error:

I had two boards called News & Updates, and Admin Chat.  I made the Admin Chat board first, then News & Updates second.

When I went in to change the title of News & Updates board, in the title box it had changed to Admin Chat.

I haven't looked at that bug just yet.

"Only administrators are allowed to access this section". I am not even getting a  Admin icon I tried to upgrade to p9 beta 1 on one of my boards and now I can not sign in to the admin Pannel on any of them. I run 5 boards with one members dir.

I fixed it by editing the username.dat file

but I had to take my board back to 8.3 I could not leave it on P9beta1 it would not work then.

Try a new install using the zip in this message, with the setup file included in this message.  The previous version had a bug, stopping people from logging in.

You didn't upgrade your /Code directory.

The other issue is because the new member groups no longer use .dat files.  They use a file called Ranks2.txt located in the /Prefs directory.  You'll need to COPY this file to EVERY distribution you have if you run multiple forums sharing the same stuff.  This is better, though, because now you can have a lot of members and have each board have diffrent permissions.

Are you sure?  Make sure it's not pointing to another code directory on your server.

I'm guessing there weren't many problems with this version?  Also, for those of you with Linux servers, try installing WITHOUT CHMODing the directories ... I added some auto CHMOD stuff, donno if it'll work right. lol

Okay, if you uploaded and then it couldn't find themes ... you're going to get a blank error because it didn't find any themes.  This is because the templates directory is not chmoded 777.

I guess the only problems I've found so far are where the board titles change sometimes

When the show news is included, and the character limits cuts in the middle of a space or ampersand etc it shows the ampersand, or where the character limits cuts in the middle of URL it doesn't link the url, or in the middle of a bulleted point, it doesn't show that item in the list.

I think if you fixed these three things you'd arguably have the greatest bbs board out there!

I couldn't repeat the problem you had O.B ....
