It's that time of year again, the time when you get the gifts, give the gifts, and just spend lots of time with your family! It's Christmas time! It's that awesome time of year. But what makes it even more awesome? Well, following with "tradition", it's story time!

This year I have a poem for everyone written by Phylum! Enjoy!

Wise Men Still Seek Him by Phylum

O come let us meet the Ancient of Days
The King of Creation, asleep in the hay...

I. Then

The winter sweeps through the barren trees
Hypnotic its metronomic pattern
'Neath the sky star-filled, shines a light from above
Three kings from the East follow this great cosmic lantern.
Through many treacherous forests they have crossed,
Over hill, over dale, past cutthroats and animals wild:
Their thoughts and hopes residing with the prophesied Child.

Three gifts they bear on this journey arduous:
Gold, myrrh, and frankincense
Each with a story to tell--
The purest metal known to man
Reflects but a spark of His absolute perfection;
Myrrh, a spice used to bury the dead:
Foretold Christ's soteriology;
Frankincense, a future reference to His kingdom come,
This divine preview of eschatology .

With heavy limbs, they reach their goal
The Object of their worship in sight:
The Creator of the universe shines His light into the night.
Much more than a fairy tale or a fable for all to see
He is the the Basis of the hero, the very Fabric of reality--
The Paragon of all that's true, and what we should strive to be.

II. Now

The wise men (and women) seek Him still,
Tiring of their sins and their own self-will
Eager for the holy touch
Of the One Who loves them so very much.

If your life has become barren like the trees
That quiver in the cold winter's breeze
Let Him be the Source of light and warmth within
The old saying still rings true:
"Wise men still seek Him."

The True Christmas Story
18 Now this is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph, her fianc, being a just man, decided to break the engagement quietly, so as not to disgrace her publicly. 20 As he considered this, he fell asleep, and an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," the angel said, "do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary. For the child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." 22 All of this happened to fulfill the Lord's message through his prophet:
23"Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and he will be called Immanuel
       (meaning, God is with us)."
24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord commanded. He brought Mary home to be his wife, 25 but she remained a virgin until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus."
Taken from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation; Matthew 1:18-24

I wish everyone a safe, blessed, and joyful Christmas, and never forget the reason for Christmas ... the day we celebrate Jesus birthday!
