Hey Justin.

I have no real understanding of the perl code, I just sort of fluke my way through webmaster-ism by reading help guides and following instructions.   I got E-Blah up and running no problems.   I seriousily think you should be commended on your excellent programming.    I have no doubt that your work has significantly contributed to the well being of the world wide web.   However, there are some features I think are seriousily lacking.
*Hyperlinks under the administative panel.    I want to link title.gif back to my site, and I think I know how by reading one of your html support documents, but there is no clear explanation, just a table.
*A drop down menu/navigation bar that can be toggled on or off at the top of the screen.   It would be excellent if we had the option of chosing how many links, where they went too and what pictures represented them, etc.
*A pre loaded templates/styles pack.   I assume the next version of E-Blah will have this anyway?
*Help files explaining which parts of the perl script to edit to get certain results, ie; 'To edit the template colours look for the colour codes in the script, the background colour is a slight exception and the code can be located near the bottom of the main template editing screen...' etc.   Basically just a little support for people like me who are only learning as much as they need too.   I know in an ideal world we would all just go and learn perl off by heart but not all of us have the time...   Also this could hugely cut back on the number of support questions you would get.   I know there is some help html documents and they are useful but still limited...

Basically I think the service you are providing the online community is absolutely terrific, and I'm making these suggestions to you on a proffesional level, as I'm sure that E-Blah will only become a larger buisiness.

Alex

Thanks!  All help I get helps.  For the code layout, something that may help is the E-Blah Developer Kit (downloads page).  Just download that and try it out.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.
Technical support is always free.

Hi again.   I downloaded the kit but I think the download might have been corrupted because all I got was a few new images and a txt file... or is that the way it's meant to be?  Either way I'm lost as ever- I really want a navigation bar on the top of the screen but I think I'll have to wait for your next version.
Any clue as to when that might be?

The developers kit is mostly image files, but the "Code Setup.txt" file contains pointers for people who can follow the code.

The way you learned "webmaster-ism" (love the term! ) is the same way I learned it, and Perl.  I hoped to go through the latest release (P7 - latest update...  yesterday ) over the weekend, but I redirected my energies to focus on reaching the open source community in Canada.  The point of going  over P7 is because I want to due API/Programming documentation, and see if I can merge it with my project "Avalon" to do the same thing you want (just dynamically)

(Hope to have something soon, and I'd love to hear any thoughts!)

Hey

So you think it won't be long before someone releases a patch or something that will allow us to have our own nav bars?
Sounds cool.

What is your project Avalon, out of curiosity?
