Change that setting to what ever you want.

erm ... I have the portal set to 25 and it displays the 25 most recently updated topics, not the 25 most recent messages.
The forum main page offers most recent messages rather than topics, but only shows 10 and I want to increase this. Also, clicking on an updated topic in the portal takes you to the first page of that topic, not the latest message, which is not really all that useful. I know people are missing messages and want the main forum page to offer more than the last 10. I'm happy editing the code if I know where to go.

You would need to mod the search at the bottom of ur forum where it says to search for the top ten posts. We have done that on our forum and it now searches for 20 posts.

If you go into search.pl and look for top ten you need to change the number to the number you wish to increase it to and they is another spot you need to change.

Hang on ill see if i can release the mod i did for it for you to install.

OK got that, cheers ... done the mod as far as the calculations are concerned but blowed if I can find the "most recent posts" text, to change that from 10 to 25. Looked in english.lng, search.lng ... must be here somewhere... ?

Ah ok, got it, $boardindex[25] in BoardIndex.lng.

Thanks for the push, all working fine now

I don't suppose there's a way to go to the actual message, like YaBB does, when you use this "latest posts" search, instead of the first page of the topic, is there?

to go to the latest msg the url need to have s=5#5 but im not sure how to add that to the search one. I do know that it is set up like that in the latests posts for each board so the answer might be in messageindex.pl file but im sure someone else will know for sure what needs to be added for it to do that.

hope so, going to the first page of a topic when the message you want is on page 30 isn't ideal by any means.

Actually i just tested this in the new version and it appears to go to the correct post and page the post is on.
