i was looking for a good flat file forum because our current host imposes a 100mb limit per MySQL database and I expect our forum to grow much larger than that... we've surpassed 200mb before so that just wouldn't cut it.  so i looked up forum software on wikipedia and went to their comparison table and checked out the list of forum softwares available... about the only ones that looked remotely interesting were eblah and yabb, and i have used yabb in the past and don't particularly care for it.  so, eblah it was.

I found eBlah's website the other day after several previous Google searches for forum software. There are many options from which to choose but none of the others felt quite right. I was attracted to eBlah by the comprehensive list of features and the very clear website content. I hope that my intuition is right!

I plan to get my community forum up and running in a few days' time. In the meantime, my MT4 blog is active and gives a flavour of what the forum will be about. http://www.grumpyexpat.com.

Thanks, Justin, for your prompt response to my initial enquiry.

hotscripts.com AFAIR.

I was looking for an alternative for PHP forum scripts. I got tired of constant flaws found in PHP and the rather burdensome configuration of a safe PHP installation. I tried YABB first, and it is a good script indeed. I wanted, however, something more simple and fast. I tried E-Blah and it has proved to be an excellent choice for my minimal needs.
